Amazon, as we all know, is a behemoth when it comes to e-commerce and this is a fact which has been true for many years now. This is also because of the hard work Amazon did in the early 2000s and it is reaping the rewards of its effort now. It should not be forgotten that Amazon started as an e-commerce platform selling books online and now it sells everything. However, the company knows that it can’t stop or else someone else will take over their position which is why Jeff Bezos appointed a new Amazon CEO, Andy Jassy.
It is known that Andy’s immense experience in the space will help the company come up with new and innovative ideas to help the company expand even more as it seemed as if the progress of Amazon under Bezos had stalled in the last few years. Talking about the progress from Amazon, we have just learned that the company is testing a Generative AI tool which will allow its sellers to generate product descriptions based on AI. This means that sellers no longer need to write product descriptions on their own. At the moment, it is noted that the tool is offered to a select few sellers only in order to test how it works.
An Amazon spokesperson also confirmed the existence of this tool and did say that it is being tested right now. It is reported that “Sellers can enter keywords that describe their product, and the AI responds with a potential title and details for the listing.” This tool will “allows merchants to generate titles, descriptions, and bullet points for products” which is one of the main content that any prospective buyer will see on Amazon when they are buying the product. While we don’t feel particularly great about this development, it is worth noting that Amazon is doing the same for its customer reviews section too. With the help of AI, Amazon is trying to highlight the good and bad part about reviews from the products and summarize it so that buyers can understand the general feedback without reading those comments.
