The Groupement des Cartes Bancaires CB is an Economic Interest Grouping which defines the operating methods of the payment system by CB card (physical or dematerialized in mobile).

At the service of member payment institutions, the GIE CB performs 6 essential missions:

ANIMATE the CB payment scheme, by defining the rules and operating methods which are based on the fundamentals of interbanking and interoperability which in particular make CB successful.
SECURE by constantly strengthening physical and logical security measures for cards, mobiles, payment terminals and the information system.
DEVELOP new digital services by deploying, for example, the acceptance of Dematerialized Restaurant Vouchers on the same terminals as those used for cards and mobiles at merchants.
INNOVATE to adapt payment by credit card and mobile CB to its time and integrate it into all customer journeys that are constantly reinventing themselves in the digital age. The LAB by CB was specially created to be the incubator of new trends.
INTEGRATE , in particular with its FrenchSys subsidiary, the specifications of foreign payment systems to allow their holders to pay as simply as with CB.
PROMOTE card and mobile payment to develop the use and awareness of the CB brand.
Via the holding company CB Investissements, the GIE CB has 4 subsidiaries and participates in the capital of the STET routing and compensation network.
